This Piper J.3 was constructed in 1939. At that time it was sold factory-new for just 1000$!!
It had quite a long civil carreer in the USA before moving to Switzerland in 1959.
During 2010 it was acquired by RAR and transported to Antwerp for future restoration.
When a private french owner bought the plane, the fuselage was sandblasted and powdercoated. We also manufactured the new floorpanels.
Fuselage recovered with ceconite.
First coat of paint.
The aircraft will be finished in USAAF-colours with invasion stripes.
Trial fitting of the boot cowl before painting.
Freshly overhauled engine installed.
Photoshoot during one of its first flights.
Happy owners with the newly delivered Cub.
